The first “bear-light” of 2021 is about Jenny Wendell Lentz, Class of 2007.
After her time at Cal, this amazing bear went on to study law, graduating from the University of Pennsylvania Law School in 2011. Jenny and her husband, Dan, married in 2013 in Healdsburg, CA with many rowdy bears in attendance. They moved back to the west coast in 2017 after spending ten years on the east coast. She and Dan now reside in Rockridge, CA. Recently, she became partner at her law firm Folger Levin in San Francisco. Jenny has been enjoying cooking nightly in the pandemic and looks forward to the time when she can get back on the Pilates reformer.
Inspired by the need to connect, Jenny sought to bring the the alumni network together in 2020 fashion--via zoom. She coordinated and hosted the summer webinar series for our Cal Women’s Soccer Alumni group. Her thoughtful approach to current events and the audience of former collegiate soccer players produced four, distinct webinars all rooted in smart, strong, bad ass bears with incredible things to share with the alumni group.
Jenny wanted to provide “an opportunity to listen to one another on stuff that matters.”
Each webinar was unique in topic and scope, with a mix of soccer and 2020 events as themes. Our connection as Cal Women’s Soccer Alumni brought us together and the webinars provided a “recognititon that we have a lot to learn from one another.”
What an all around, incredible group of women.

Another shout out to Amy “Whitey” Hockenbrock, Class of 2000 & current Sports Med Doc at Cal. With the great response to the webinars, Whitey wanted to keep the train going by hosting monthly zoom happy hours throughout the fall. These led to great moments of catching up, bringing this website together and spreading holiday cheer with fun costumes. The bears know how to bring the fun even in a pandemic!
